The Central Coast and Hunter NSW Region extends from Gosford in the south, Bellingen on the north coast, inland to Armidale and then bordering along the eastern side of the Great Dividing Range into the vineyards  of the Hunter.  The topography, climate and soils vary considerably as this region takes in coastal plains, mountain ranges, inland areas and the urban fringe.  Within this region our members encompass hobby farmers and lifestyle owners, as well as much larger studs.  Both types of alpacas, suri and huacaya,  are well represented within these herds.

Due to the vastness, the Region has established five local areas – Central Coast, Hunter, New England, Mid North Coast and Taree.  All are very active with displays and shows. These include The Spring Show and Tocal Field Days, down south, Wool Expo and New England Alpaca Show in the north and the Mid North Coast Alpaca Show  in the centre.  Alpaca displays are also held in conjunction with the show societies in some of the major country towns.

The regional newsletter  is the "Alpaca Hmmm...", which is published four times year.  Advertising is discounted for regional members, but is welcomed from anywhere. The newsletter is also available by subscription to non members.  (contact the Editor).

The Region is committed to its members with meetings conducted in all local areas. Speakers are invited to these meetings to provide educational seminars on various breeding and handling topics.  Support is offered to new alpaca owners through New Breeders’ workshops.
