About Our Region

The Central Coast and Hunter NSW Region extends from Gosford in the south, Bellingen on the north coast, inland to Armidale and then bordering along the eastern side of the New England Highway into the vineyards of the Hunter. The topography, climate and soils vary considerably as this region takes in coastal plains, mountain ranges, inland areas and the urban fringe. Within this region our members encompass hobby farmers and lifestyle owners, as well as much larger studs. Both types of alpacas, suri and huacaya, are well represented within these herds.

Due to the vastness, the region has 3 local area networks – Central Coast Hunter, New England and the Mid North Coast, enabling members to meet up without travelling such long distances. Key annual activities in the region include Tocal Field Days, New England Alpaca Show and the Mid North Coast Alpaca Show.
Alpaca displays are also held in conjunction with the show societies in some of the major country towns.

The Region is committed to its members with meetings conducted in all local areas. Speakers are sometimes invited to these meetings to provide educational seminars on various breeding and handling topics. Support is offered to new alpaca owners, at times through New Breeders' workshops.
